The Creative Power of Age

About The Cima Project

Anna Katarina

The Cima Project was initiated in 2018 by actor/director Anna Katarina when she connected with a group of actors aged 70 to 92. The extraordinary work that burst forth compelled us to document the revelation that age is an asset, not a hindrance, to personal growth and creative expression.

Deeply moved by the inner wealth and boundless passion pouring out of these individuals, Anna encouraged them to work on their favorite roles now, regardless of age or physical limitations. As if primed for this moment, Anna’s actors delved deep into characters and playwrights they had dreamed about for decades and infused them with their own life stories. This process proved so beneficial and transformative for everyone involved that the Cima Project came to life. In Italian, Cima means on the peak, a perfect depiction of where these thespians reside.

Genuinely touched by this endeavor, award-winning actor Delroy Lindo and award-winning producer/director Michael Pressman offer their insights on the value of the Cima Project in the video below, as Anna’s actors present excerpts of their work and lives.

Our documentary will shed light on the truth that we have much to learn from an age group that draws from a deep well of culture, knowledge, and a long-inspired life. Our mission feels especially pertinent at a time when seniors are increasingly overlooked by our fast-paced, digitally-bound society. However, an individual that we pass on the street and dismiss as old or over the hill may well transform into Saint Joan or Atticus Finch in a heartbeat.

We are in the process of raising $150,000 to fulfill Phase Two of our documentary, which consists of additional filming and post-production.

Please join us in spreading the uplifting news that we can transcend limitations through our innate creativity and passion for what we love, especially at this conclusive stage of life. We believe it deserves to be heeded, honored and celebrated.

You’re stopping and saying: there’s a human being here. Not only is there a human being here, there’s a human being here who is full of creative riches, and your process is mining those riches. That’s what you’re doing. – Delroy Lindo

I have never heard  nor seen the marriage of self-healing as a process through the technique of playing characters with your guidance as somebody who understands the art of acting.
